Click to ENRAPTURE Devil Fish and the World's Greatest Christian Cartoonist old time religion
Work by E. J. Pace 1880-1946
(Click to Enrapture)
Ernest James Pace is without a doubt the world's greatest cartoonist for christ...not that he had too much competition. Actually, they aren't very funny either, at least not unless you view them with a jaded, post-modern, smug, non-believing eye.
Pace drew for the Watchword, a magazine published by United Brethren in Christ from 1906-1917 and later for The Sunday School Times, his home for some 30 years. In 1922 the book shown here, an anthology of his best work was published by the Sunday School Times and the Moody Press. A masterpiece of religious cross-hatches and moral lessons.

They're funny to my jaded, post-modern, smug, believing eye too--maybe even funnier.
