Reverend Tilman Hobson and his Bible Call Poem old time religion

Evangelist Tilman Hobson leans in to deliver his bible call poem.

Say! My Friend! Have you seen
Second Timothy, two fifteen?
First Thessalonians, five twenty-two,
Will tell you exactly what to do.

Thessalonians 5-22 tells us all to avoid the appearance of evil. I guess evil is fine, but the appearance of same is to be avoided. It has been used to discourage beards, drinking, playing cards, going to see a movie and wearing pants (for women) and as such, it is known as the evangelists catch-all.
